"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible."
T.E. Lawrence
We would like to thank all of the “dangerous” people with whom we have worked for being a treasured part of our community. It has been an honor to learn, laugh, and share a part of your dream with you. We wish you all the very best and hope our paths cross often! Keep dreaming in the day...
"Our team had a great experience with Karen. Each of us came with different issues that we wanted to work on for ourselves in the areas of leadership and life. Karen was able to work with each of us in a way that made us feel supported, yet challenged us to work with horses in order to teach and stretch us out of our comfort zones. Karen led the process with authenticity, inquiry, and a genuine sense of curiosity so that we felt that she was experiencing and discovering right along with us. We truly enjoyed the experience, and we each got helpful nuggets for work and life."
Karen has helped me as someone trying to lead a business through complex change, at a time when I lacked some of the confidence I felt I needed. She coached me to see the unique potential that I had, and gave me ideas and tools that made me feel prepared and allowed me to get the best from my team. In particular, Karen helped me design our team strategy away day that lead to our most productive session in years, that allowed me to rally the whole team behind my vision of the company.
"I first met Karen when she facilitated a leadership retreat where I was immediately struck by her warmth and wisdom. She is incredibly tuned in to the challenges of leaders, far beyond just the practical issues, but the deep human and relationship factors which cause individuals and teams to sink or swim. She has since worked closely with our board, helping us with a challenging transition period where she made a huge difference as well as helping us with some of our most valued client relationships. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Karen."
"Re: Team helped us pull together as a team and put together a strategic plan all principles and employees could rally behind."
I worked with Karen on bringing together a new leadership team after a difficult period at our company. She helped us really connect to each other, dealing with the tricky and complex issues of the past and convening us around a shared vision for us and the business. As a result, we were able to come together to hold the rest of the team through the following few months, and get all of us into a better place. Karen has an amazing sensitivity at the same time as a fearlessly kind and direct approach that made us feel safe, but also challenged us to be the best that we could, together.
"Karen's insights into body language, energy and interpersonal skills gave me at a clear advantage to gather more leads at a large Media Group conference."
‘Karen excels at helping people discover their true potential through the powerful combination of equine work and coaching. I was sceptical at first but always open to exploration so I gave it a go. The results were far greater than I could ever have imagined. In my case Karen helped me to let go of challenges that were not serving me well and for the first time in my life I learnt how to handle issues such as grief and control which has enabled me to find a new level of freedom and possibility in my life. This has impacted how I consciously chose to lead as well as how I show up in relationships with those closest to me in new and meaningful ways.'
"I have been working in individual, team and organization development for many years (30+). I have been a program manager at GE's corporate management develop center, Crotonville, and have held roles in professional development in three GE companies, as well as three other Fortune 100 companies. In addition, I've consulted in OD for small and medium companies. My education includes master degrees in clinical social work and an MBA from Wharton.
When I was invited to participate in a training program for business leaders using horses, I was surprised and curious. How was there going to be an effective link from the horses to the learning? I found out there was, a very powerful and effective link.
As a manager or a leader or an individual, we are at times not 100% honest with ourselves. Sometime we are not so honest with others, as well. Sometimes we think we are authentic, or approachable or clear with our communications, and when we don't get the result that we expected, our automatic assessment is often that it is the other person or group that is "off", not us.
In working with business professionals, there are times when it would be great to have a kind of mirror that would reflect intentions or feelings and the mismatch of those with actions. I was amazed to see how well the horses we worked with were so much like that mirror. The horses sensed how I was being, beyond the words, so well, it was like a very special mirror. The gentle and firm confront that occurred was an eye opener for me, and for the others in the group. It produced the kind of feedback that 360 tools usually don't. It was visceral as well as cognitive. It is very hard to disregard an animal that is over 1/2 a ton. One that seems to react to something beyond words, something more fundamental.
The uncommon environment and the skill of the facilitator blended to create an experience where impactful insights were much more available than I expected. The experience was a great opportunity to build a team, clear the air, develop some very powerful skills. I highly recommend it."
I first met Karen in 2013 at Blu Camp in Missouri. It was my first experience of World Blu and Freedom Centred Leadership and I went with an open mind to learn as much as I could for my own development.
Karen was introduced as a Coach who used horses as part of her sessions. My reply was “horses? How? say that again.” “Yes, horses". So in the interests of keeping an open mind I went to one of the coaching sessions with Karen, the rest of the group from Blu Camp and a number of horses. To say it was fantastic is an understatement, we were all amazed at the impact the horses have on you as an individual and the group. Karen lead the session perfectly, knowing when to lead, when to assure and when to let you experience the situation for yourself.
I would recommend Karen to any Leader or Management team that is looking for a very different but very beneficial coaching experience. Its not something I thought I would ever do but recommend you try it.
